Bailey's Podcast Recommendations:  Stop and Smell the Flowers with these Appreciation Podcasts

Since we're having more and more time on our hands as quarantine continues, I have decided that it's time to do another round of podcast recommendations! As we're all doing our best to look on the bright side nowadays, I went through my ever-growing podcast queue and picked out some shows that are all about appreciation. For those new to podcast listening, you can find them on iTunes, or any other podcast player (my personal preference is Overcast) and stream or download episodes for free. If you find a podcast you really enjoy and would like to follow, you can subscribe to the show and get new episodes downloaded automatically to your device. Without further ado, here they are. From podcasts that celebrate celebrities, to podcasts that celebrate music, and even to podcasts that celebrate cereal, here are my recommendations for great podcasts about cherished things by those who cherish them.

Jim and Tomic's Musical Theatre Happy Hour

For all you musical theatre buffs, this podcast, hosted by Jimi and Tommy, features in-depth and thoughtful discussion on one piece of musical theatre per episode, covering shows both old and new.

Wonderful!

Husband and wife duo Griffin and Rachel McElroy come together each week to discuss any four things that they are enthusiastic about that week: music, poetry, snack foods, you name it!

Every Little Thing

Each episode, host Flora Lichtman interviews experts to answer her audience's most burning questions about the tiniest subjects. Check out this podcast to learn all you ever wondered about everything from baseball organ music to laundry symbols on clothing.

The Anthropocene Reviewed

Best-selling author John Green rates various elements of humanity on a five-star scale while simultaneously connecting them to his own life experiences in a beautiful non-chronological autobiography.

The Empty Bowl

Cereal enthusiasts, Justin McElroy and Dan Goubert, bring you the latest cereal news in a relaxing, meditative atmosphere (Seriously. Ocean sounds  serve as the background for the entire show), and provides deep discussion about the best cereal and the best ways to eat it.

Putting It Together

Host Kyle Marshall is joined by a different guest every week as he dissects the music and lyrics of Stephen Sondheim, "show-by-show and song-by-song."

The Nod

The ceaselessly charming Brittany Luse and Eric Eddings host a fun, educational, hilarious, and inspiring podcast celebrating black history, and culture, of the past and present.

Everything Is Alive

Each episode, host Ian Chillag sits down and interviews an inanimate object. That's right. He gets entire life stories from such revered guests as: a can of soda, a balloon, and a street light...

Dolly Parton's America

Hosted by Jad Abumrad, this podcast follows the narrative of Dolly Parton's life and rise to success through interviews with Parton herself, the big names in show business whom she has met along the way, and fans and scholars who have been influenced by her work.

Gimme Pizza: A Mary-Kate and Ashley Podcast

Is this podcast recorded just for me? Probably. Each week, Amity Hanson is joined by a guest to discuss a selection from the Mary-Kate and Ashley oeuvre, complete with the occasional reading from the twins' various series of children's novels, and even some interviews with actors who have worked with Mary-Kate and Ashley.

The New New Adventures of Mary-Kate and Ashley

Because, they're just too good for only one podcast! Hosts Katie Barsotti, Maddie Dunkelberg, and Chloe Schildhause are joined by guests to discuss everything Mary-Kate and Ashley, from their movies and television shows, to their fashion empire, and to headlines throughout their career.
