February Film Club Pick
When deciding upon a film for our February Film Club Pick-of-the-Month, Bailey and I had yet another difficult decision on our hands. Should we choose an upcoming film release? Maybe something ‘Leap Year’ themed? How about a film celebrating a noteworthy release anniversary? What about a Valentine’s Day romcom pick? Or, should we devote the month to celebrating a celebrity birthday? With so many different considerations, we weren’t sure that we could unanimously decide upon a pick…
Surprisingly, with very little deliberation, we managed to select a film that is somewhere between several of the categories we considered. Without further ado, our February Film Club Pick-of-the-Month is the 1985 John Hughes classic: The Breakfast Club. How, you might ask, did we land upon this gem of a teen comedy film? Well, our rational was quite simple: The Breakfast Club turns 35 this year (can you believe it?), having been originally released on February 15, 1985, and one if the film’s stars, Molly Ringwald, happens to also celebrate her birthday this month, on February 18, which equals a ‘no-brainer’ combo in our books.
So, grab some snacks, round up the gang–you know the brain, the athlete, the basket case, the princess, and the criminal–and settle in to watch one of the quintessential films about high school. Don’t you forget to check back in with us, here at The Film Rewind, towards the end of the month to discuss The Breakfast Club. What do you think of our February Film Club Pick?
