December Film Club Pick

December Film Club Pick

Choosing a film club pick for the month of December was a daunting task. There are so many holiday themed films that we adore and can’t wait to begin watching and revisiting once the Thanksgiving dishes are done... That being said, Bailey and I agreed that the perfect film to select for December would be Christmas in Connecticut (1945). This film has been a favorite of mine for years, and one that Bailey was glad to revisit as well. We hope that you will take the time to track down a copy, grab some popcorn, and celebrate the holiday season with this delightful black and white Hollywood classic.

A great family-friendly flick, Christmas in Connecticut is an intriguing genre hybrid, part wartime film, part screwball comedy, and chock-full of holiday cheer. The film has an excellent cast, including the incomparable Barbara Stanwyck, along with Dennis Morgan, Sydney Greenstreet, Reginald Gardiner, and S. Z. Sakall. Here Stanwyck plays Elizabeth Lane a food writer from New York City, who has made her living on a series of little white lies, which catch up with her just in time for the holidays…
